Residential Care Homes
Residential Care Homes offer assisted living care in a private home setting, located in a residential neighborhood. The homes are coverted and staffed for small group living. Typically they are licensed for no more than 6 people. Residents can rent either a private room or shared room. They share common areas of the home.
A residential care home provides a higher level of care than assisted living, but a lower level than a nursing home (skilled nursing facility). The biggest difference is that there’s more personalized care and staff attention because each home has few residents.
Each home may offer different services. Some provide a high level of care, while others focus on the basics. All provide daily meals, housekeeping, and individualized assistance with daily living activities such as , bathing, toileting, dressing, moving around, giving medications and transportation . A visiting physician visits the home and a regular basis.
Residential homes are ideal for people who want a more private home-like enviroment. They usually cost less than the larger sized Assisted Living communities and only accept private pay.
